Abstract :
This paper presents a reformed teaching method based on engineering application cases for the Hydraulic and Pneumatic course in order to tackle problems previously existed in the traditional method of teaching this course. Such new teaching method can powerfully promote teaching method reforms for the course. This paper discusses the teaching method based on engineering application cases in the following four aspects: case introduction, case implementation, case study and case summary. Taking the case of “Dump truck´s lifting mechanism” in introduction section as an example, this paper explains the use of and the process of engineering application case based teaching method. This teaching method associates theoretical knowledge with engineering practices. It can inspire students´ passion and enthusiasm and improve students´ abilities of solving problems. This teaching method can also further develop students´ personalities, and strengthen their creativities and integrative practical qualities. Such credentials are important for students in their employment as well economic and social development.
