Abstract
An equivalent circuit formulation is presented for the analysis of electromagnetic pulse (EMP) penetration into multiply-bent slots loaded with lossless or lossy material. The multiply-bent narrow slot, which allows only the TEM mode to propagate, is decomposed into a series of uniform slot sections and right-angled bends, which are modeled by transmission lines and π-type lumped equivalent circuits, respectively. A transmission coefficient is obtained from a transfer admittance of the entire equivalent circuit. The penetration phenomena of ultrawideband (UWB) EMP into various multiply-bent slots are investigated both in the frequency domain and in the time domain using the transmission coefficient .
