Abstract
A rigorous method for evaluating the insertion loss of diplexers is introduced. Starting from the electromagnetic computation of the power loss inside the diplexer structure the lossy network S-parameters are derived. The favourable comparison between the computed and measured insertion loss of a silver-plated Ku-band waveguide antenna diplexer demonstrates the high efficiency and accuracy of the proposed approach.
