Abstract :
A filter with reconfigurable bandedges using dual-behavior resonators is presented. The resonators are based on the electrical circuit of the Modified Butterworth-Van-Dyke model (MBVD) used for one port surface acoustic wave (SAW) resonators. They exhibit a series and a parallel resonant frequency which allows realization of highly selective transition bands. The band edge reconfigurability is realized separately for the upper transition band and the lower transition band. The fabricated filter without PIN diodes has four filter states by relocating the passband edges. A bandwidth reconfigurable filter using PIN diodes is also fabricated and the reconfigurable bands with bandwidths of 16.5% and 76.5% are realized.
