Abstract :
An analytical method for constructing a plastic zone during the sliding of a smooth circular cylinder on the rigid-plastic half-space is proposed under plane strain conditions. The method is based on an approximation of the slip lines by circular arcs. The results are used as an initial approximation for determining the radius of curvature of the slip lines and the velocity field into the plastic zone in a double-power series.
