Abstract :
For the emerging need of complex maintenance support system design, operation and management engineering, the cognition of maintenance support system´s key properties and its evolution would be of great importance. However, there is few studies support this research. Therefore it is urgently required for us to reveal the complex essence of maintenance support system, to represents initiative and dynamism of system´s elements and the interactions between them from a new perspective. The maintenance support system and complex adaptability system is introduced at first. The complex adaptive system theory is applied to analyze the maintenance support system´s basic four adaptive characteristics and three mechanisms. Then maintenance support system is proved to be a complex adaptive system. Based on CAS theory, a multilayer hierarchical CAS model of Maintenance Support System is established. And the evolution model of maintenance support system is proposed to understand the general principle of evolution based on complex adaptive system theory. A new idea for complex adaptability of maintenance support system and its evolution mechanism research is provided.
