Abstract :
The rapid growth of wind power generation brings new requirements for the integration of wind turbines generators to the grid. Among these requirements is the Low Voltage Ride Through (LVRT) requisite which demands wind turbines generators to remain connected to the grid during grid voltage sags at certain conditions, as well as the contribution of reactive current during the voltage sag so as to help supporting the system voltage. In this paper, a model of Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) based wind turbine with LVRT capability is presented. The model allows conducting an analysis of the power system and satisfying the requirements of a specific grid code. Simulations show the wind turbine´s operation with and without LVRT control.
