Abstract :
This article is devoted to a discussion of the validity range of Rayleigh scattering model. The latter is used in a wide range of applications. The mathematical ideas and the model of a scattered signal formation outlined in the article may be seen as a first step toward the development of sound foundation for a technique of dual-wavelength synchronous active measurements in the coincident scattering volume when both wavelengths correspond to Rayleigh´s diffraction on scatters. Such a technique could open the door for the retrieval of new (or additional) information about the microstructure of scattering object when it consists of distributed point scatters.
