Abstract :
With the advent of MIMO technology as one of WiMAX´s features, it has become feasible to adopt the technology into the mobile location scenario because of its capability to mitigate non-line of sight (NLOS) errors. This paper proposes on the enhancement of mobile station (MS) location estimation by using a single MIMO base station (SMBS) with the virtual base station. The SMBS algorithm with virtual base station has been developed based on the AOA and AOD measurement parameter (SMVirBS). The algorithm developed includes the effect of the geometric dilution of precision (GDOP) to assist with the location estimation accuracy. Simulation results have been provided that show that the proposed technique outperforms the linear least square (LLS) algorithm in terms of estimated location accuracy.
