            Abstract :
Detection of slowly moving low RCS targets in heavy sea clutter is difficult due to close Dopplers. If an artificial clutter-like signal is injected in IF stage or after the linear envelope detector, the statistics of the sea clutter can be altered adequately for a better detection. We have shown that this process, which may be called statistical dithering, can significantly improve the detection performance.
