Abstract
This paper proposes a control method of permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive system based on direct torque control (DTC) in high speed region. In high speed region, when the magnet flux of the PMSM is relatively weak, maximum torque per flux (MTPF) control is used for wide-speed-range operation. In the DTC-based motor drive system, the reference torque and the reference flux are required for optimal vector control. The proposed method is based on torque limitation using the maximum torque angle. Simulation and experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method. The proposed PMSM drive system with DTC has advantage including simplicity of calculation.
