Abstract :
A promising topology to interconnect the wind power plants is proposed. Advantages of series-connected system over ordinary parallel system are first discussed, and control strategies for the series-connected system are studied to realize an optimum use of the wind energy. The dynamic performances of the series-connected system are investigated through simulation and experiments. An effective method to realize high quality of output power is also shown. Finally, a novel topology of the wind turbine/generators connected in series suitable for the DC power transmission to enlarge the scale of the wind power plant without an increase in system voltage level is introduced.
