Abstract :
Large-scale wind power is integrated into one regional power grid in western China, as well as local thermal power. When the power generated is enough for the local grid, the extra will be sent outside. Based on one regional power grid named HM power grid, this paper mainly analysis its operation characteristics. Firstly, transmission limit of wind power in HM power grid is simulated by restriction of N-1 fault in main transformers, based on which system´s instability modes are compared when considering different locations of thermal units used in peak load regulation. Secondly, in order to alleviate the sever voltage fluctuation caused by wind power fluctuation, a new fixed-flexible combined reactive power control method is proposed. Thirdly, the consequences on power system caused by wind farms trip-off are analyzed. Aiming at preventing power system from over-voltage, an effective approach is presented by regulating reactive power compensation devices.
