Abstract
This paper presents an investigation of a real-time predictive control technique for robust vibration suppression and disturbance rejection of aircraft with structural damage. A generalized predictive control approach with damage identification is developed for time-varying systems with damage. The real-time identified model, which is expressed as the prediction matrices, is updated from time-domain input/output data. The on-line damage detection is implemented by comparing the changes of the identified model with the changes of the analytical model due to damage. The predicted response error for the system with the identified damage is integrated into the predictive control design process for the performance of robustness and control under damage. The proposed method is demonstrated by application to the Benchmark Active Controls Technology wind-tunnel model.
