Abstract :
Historically, drive system rebuilds have been included as part of major mechanical rebuilds on papermachines. However, with the changes in the paper industry, there are fewer and smaller mechanical rebuilds. As the drive systems that were installed during the 1980´s and 90´s reach their end of life, decisions need to be made on the most time and cost effective means replace them in order to insure maintainability. There are a number of different issues that need to be considered, some of which could be site specific.
