Abstract
In this paper, we have proposed a method to design a terahertz metasurface which can significantly reduce the backward radar cross section (RCS) within an ultra wide frequency band. Four basic elements have been chosen, with the phase difference between adjacent elements 90 degrees. The far field contributions from these four elements can be proved to be cancelled with each other, leading to significant reduction of radar cross sections as desired. The thickness of the sample is just 30 μm and the simulated backward RCS reduction is above 10 dB from 0.8 to 1.9 THz.
