Abstract :
The non linear loads leads to low power factor and generates voltage distortions as it produces harmonic currents and reactive power to distribution and transmission systems resulting in the reduced utilization of distribution system. Voltage Source Converters are used as shunt active compensators to provide the instant current thereby reducing reactive power losses. In this paper an artificial intelligence adaptive hybrid technique with optimal selection of switching angle is proposed to eliminate the harmonics and to regulate the load voltage. The paper presents a comparison between the conventional PI controller, Fuzzy controllers and the proposed shunt active compensation using multilevel inverter with ANFIS soft computing technique and the simulation is carried out using MATLAB.
