Abstract :
A large exploiting of renewables in islanded systems can become more and more interesting, both referring to the disconnection of portions of developed distribution networks and to the first electrification of rural areas. A control strategy able to coordinate the different resources of islanded systems, aiming to preserve voltage and frequency stability, is needed. Differently from other works, the authors have developed an approach able to coordinate active and reactive generation output with storage systems requirements and features, making no use of remote communications between different points of the system. The control strategy acts on frequency and voltage in order to reduce as much as possible the power exchanges between the storage system and the network. This means involving mainly generators in supplying load requirements. In this way, the storage system can provisionally compensate significant events in terms of active and reactive balance, as shown in the reported simulations.
