Abstract :
Based on MPI and user-defined modeling technique, software which can simulate the operation of power system with a great quantity of relay protections and automatic safety devices (relay protections and automatic safety devices are hereafter referred to as secondary equipment), is developed. The user-defined modeling technique using the object-oriented method is designed to set up models of secondary equipment. In the software, the great quantity of models can be configured individually or in group. To deal with massive computation, both network partition and secondary equipment grouping are used. The whole power grid is partitioned into several subnets and the secondary equipment models are divided into different groups. The subnet process for subnet solution and the external process for group computation are executed in different CPUs, for which simulation efficiency can be improved and cascading failure simulation can be fulfilled within acceptable time.
