Abstract :
In this paper we propose new Zadoff-Chu (ZC) based synchronization sequences suitable for future broadcast system preambles. While maintaining the same overall structure and length as in the DVB-T2 P1, we replace the synchronization mechanism by a particular combination of ZC sequences capable of carrying one or more signaling bits. We will present the design methodology, the possible ZC constructions and provide a recommended ZC preamble for terrestrial broadcasting scenarios. Simulation results show that, while improving by +1 dB the detection capability of DVB-T2 under the worse condition scenario, the proposed synchronization sequences provide a much better accuracy in the time domain than the DVB-T2 P1 synchronization mechanism. The proposed structures can be used for future communication systems or as an upgrade to current standards.
