Abstract :
Wrong actions of gaps can cause the exit of series compensator, which can cause a big disturbance in power system, threatening the safe and steady operation of power system. The article uses EMTP program to put models of power system of a part of China Southern Power Grid, transmission lines, and series compensator, simulating the incident of gap self-triggering happened on April 10th 2009. Then the article gives the conclusion of simulation. The process and result of simulation have some value to the analysis of actions of series compensator protection in actual power system.
