Abstract :
Smart grid defines an innovative research dimension in the area of power systems. Modern power systems are based on highly integrated, flexible networked and communicative cyber-physical infrastructure. This type of approach is extremely helpful in solving various reliability and security issues that arise due to the complexity of these systems. Utilizing different control mechanisms for optimal control of a system under different operating conditions and in different operating states, a hybrid control technique puts forth an active paradigm for control design of such a system. This paper presents a unique approach for modeling, control and safety verification of a smart grid considering its hybrid and complex nature. A model of smart grid has been designed in MATLAB and hybrid control is implemented for operation under different physical conditions. The stochastic nature of system for fault condition is also taken into account. Finally, the design scheme has been verified to give the desired results in which a reliable, efficient and safe operation is the output.
