Abstract :
We present 4-PAM external modulation up to 10Gbit/s using a RSOA with a 3-dB bandwidth of 1.2GHz. By applying pre-equalization we demonstrate 10km 4-PAM transmission at 8Gbit/s with biterror-rate below the FEC limit.
