  • Abstract
    Emerging internet technologies rely on Mobile IPv6 services. Home Agent is a key component for such services as it holds the binding association information. Whenever the mobile node changes its point of attachment, it updates the binding information to a Home Agent. In Mobile IPv6, Home Agent addresses are discovered by mobile node via Dynamic Home Agent Address Discovery mechanism. It is the responsibility of a mobile node to decide a suitable Home Agent for binding registration. In this paper we detail the existing mechanism latency involved in discovering Home Agent Address and propose Swift Home Agent Address Discovery mechanism to mitigate this issue. In this frame work, the discovery of home agent is not initiated by mobile node instead it is initiated by edge router. The home registration should be quick to avoid the mobile node being idle without any communication. We propose priority queue scheduling for binding registration in Home Agent and it reduces the home registration delay. The simulated results reveal that our approach performs better than existing Dynamic Home Agent Address Discovery mechanism in Home Agent address discovery and home registration delay.
