Abstract
This paper assesses the use of beam reconfigurable antennas in a homogeneous cellular network deployment. The results from a previously designed reconfigurable antenna are used to understand the tradeoff between optimum cell SINR and cell edge performance. It is shown that having the capability to switch between narrow and wide antenna beamwidths can offer some performance benefit at the cell edges. System simulations are provided.
