Abstract
The Nonlinear Optical properties of organic and organometallic complexes, particularly transition metal complexes bearing π- conjugated chains, are widely investigated in order to contribute to the fabrication of optoelectronic/photonic applications. New conjugated materials (ligands and their corresponding metal complexes) are investigated by means of Z-scan technique employing a 30 ps mode-locked Nd-YVO4 laser at 532 nm with a repetition rate of 10 Hz. The NL absorption and the NL refraction for these materials are determined and the effect of metal complexation on the NLO response is investigated. Moreover some selected NLO applications of specific Azo dye derivatives will also be compared and discussed.
