Abstract :
There are large areas in Digital TV planning called TV white spaces (TVWS) where certain channels are not used. They could be assigned for low-power devices operating on the non-interfering (secondary) basis with the licensed (primary) DTV service. Restrictions imposed to protect primary users should not devaluate spectrum for secondary use. In this paper we suggest that to reuse the spectrum efficiently, TVWS device have to support a power control operating via mechanism of sensing. Parameters for protection of primary system should be based on the minimal separation distance, observance of which at a certain area assumed to be ensured. Geolocation database will provide a list of such distances as well as list of available channels and parameters recommended for calculations of the path loss.
