Impact of usability on non-technical users: Usability testing through websites

Usability plays key role for any of user-centered system´s success. Designing user´s expectations is quite challenging job for any website designer. Users have different usability requirements based on their age group and experience level. Therefore, it is very challenging to gather and implement the diverse nature of expectations against different users. This study aimed to test the usability of websites. A total of 34 subjects participated in web-based experiment to examine the influence of selected website features with focus on online form filling by categorizing into two different groups (technical and non-technical user). The results reveal usability expectations in different age groups and also that their usage of internet strongly influenced the measured factors. The finding highlights the importance of user friendly website design in different contexts and provides practical consequences for the design of problematic website.
