Abstract :
A host can simultaneously transmit or receipt multiple packets on different beams with smart antenna (or Multi-beam antenna) systems. Hence, Smart antenna system can have spatial reuse and reduced power consumption. However, the host with smart antenna cannot transmit to its neighboring by one beam and receive from other neighboring by other beam simultaneously. For multi-hop transmissions, an efficient routing algorithm can improve the network performance. In addition, in multicasting transmissions, share paths can reduce the power consuming in the network. With delay constraints of transmission, this paper aims to develop a routing approach for multicast transmission with smart antenna systems based on the cluster topology. We propose a Multicast Delay-Guaranteed Routing (MDR) algorithm with smart antenna by taking the share paths and delay constraint into account. Performance study reveals that the proposed algorithm outperforms existing work in terms of power consumption, transmission guarantee as well as network throughput.
