            Abstract :
This paper reports some work on SAW gas sensors based on the condensation-adsorption effect relating to the sensing position of the SAW detector in GC/SAW gas sensor system, and analyzes the response of GC / SAW gas sensor system influenced by the position of the SAW detector where the GC column outlet is aligned at. The SAW device aligned at different position is used in GC/SAW for the detection of dimethyl methylphosphonate (DMMP). The sensor has a superior performance when the GC column outlet is aligned at the middle position of the SAW detector, and difference of response is of ~30%, which could not be ignored.
