Abstract :
Sensitivity is an important parameter to describe the electro-acoustic energy conversion efficiency of ultrasonic transducer, and is a key indicator of ultrasonic transducer performance. The reciprocity technique and the pulse-echo technique are widely used to measure ultrasonic transducer sensitivity, while the measurement process of the two methods are complicated. In this paper, the definition of ultrasonic transducer sensitivity is studied. Two methods, the hydrophone method and the laser vibrometer method, are developed to measure the disc-vibrator ultrasonic transducer sensitivity. The validity of both methods is verified by experiments. Analysis and experiment shows that both methods are sufficiently accurate for transducer sensitivity measurements, while each has its own advantages and limitations.
