  • Abstract
Applying wireless sensor networks to the intelligent lighting control system has become a positive inspiration to the new home and renovation projects, as it increases the quality of life and comfort of the inhabitants, simultaneously facilitating energy conservation and environmental sustainability. An ongoing topic in wireless sensor networks domain is the aim to save energy. One currently successful wireless technology with a very strict low-power design is EnOcean which is powered by energy harvesting. An intelligent lighting control system based on the EnOcean technology is proposed in this paper. The proposed system takes the mobile devices into account and designs the corresponding software to realize the communication between the mobile devices and the EnOcean network. The demonstration system performs the tests on the effectiveness of the lighting control, the coverage and the effective payload of the proposed lighting control system. The test results will help to guide engineering practice of the intelligent lighting control system based on the EnOcean network.
