Abstract
In the presented paper a new sensorless method is introduced for driving Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM). The method and the motor are then tested under different unbalanced load conditions. The novel method uses only two algorithms in motor control instead of three algorithms which dramatically decreases the complexity, as a result, the cost of the completed board. In most custom sensorless techniques, three algorithms are used in order to drive the motor from standstill, in low speed and high speed. These algorithms increase the complexity of sensorless techniques causing they need high performance controller with high cost. In the proposed method two algorithms are used. One of them starts motor from standstill and drive the motor in low speed. The other one control the motor in high speed. After designing and constructing the presented novel sensorless driver, it is tested in laboratory on a 6 by 4 three phases SRM. Then different unbalanced loads are coupled to the motor shaft and it is tested by the sensorless driver. The operational results are then illustrated.
