  • Abstract
This paper presents a new mathematical method to determine the control configuration for n × n multi-input-multi-output (MIMO) processes. Previously the Relative Gain Array (RGA) was employed as a classical way to determine the pairing between inputs and outputs which may not suggest the best pairing in cases where the systems are larger than 2×2. The new strategy gives suitable pairing recommendations and is easy to interpret based on this theory that each output with one of the inputs is easier to be controlled. Some options like tracking targets based on desired frequencies are considered in this method. Comparisons with RGA method demonstrate the effectiveness of this methodology, through the use of several examples.
