Abstract :
In a multi-cell wireless network, users require to be properly assigned to base-stations. After assigning the base-stations to users, the power consumption and interference is controlled by means of a distributed power control algorithm. The power control and base station assignment is a challenging issue which should be jointly addressed. The conventional target-SINR tracking power control algorithm and basestation assignment algorithm based on minimum effective interference (TPC-BSA), proposed in [6], provides all users with their given fixed target SIRs, consuming minimum aggregate transmit power, as long as the target-SINRs are feasible. But, when the target-SINRs are infeasible, this algorithm results in increased outage ratio and inefficiently consumed power. In this paper, we resolve this drawback by presenting a new joint removal-based power control and base station assignment (RPC-BSA) for wireless cellular network. By using our proposed RPC-BSA, not only the power consumption in infeasible systems is reduced but also more users can be supported with their target-SINRs, as compared with previous work TPC-BSA.
