            Abstract : 
The article describes a method to start the three-stage motor with damping winding. This method is described for use in the auxiliary power unit (APU). The investigation consists of a main synchronous generator with damping winding exciter - synchronous generator with excitation winding and subexciter representing a three-phase permanent-magnet synchronous generator, designed to provide self-excitation regime.
