Abstract
The hemodynamic characteristics of blood flow for DeBakey III aortic dissection were investigated. The velocity fields of the blood flow, the pressure and shear stress on the blood vessel wall were computed by using the boundary element method. The results showed that the blood flow in the false lumen was low-speed vortex, and its magnitude changed slightly during a cardiac cycle. The pressures on the false lumen lateral wall changed significantly, and were greater than those on the healthy vessel wall. The shear stress around the cleft of the false lumen was the largest. The result is helpful for understanding the hemodynamic reason for the aortic dissection.
