            Abstract :
The past 10 years witnessed in China a spate of in-service arch bridge accidents caused by failure of suspenders which are found out by trace analysis to be unsafe in design due to the unreasonable calculation by their simplified calculation model. Since the current computer hardware and software can not meet the requirements of refined finite element analysis of full-bridge, this research proposes a simplified whole-bridge model from the perspective of end constraint of suspender, providing the most ideal scheme of suspender modeling for arch bridges.
