  • Abstract
When radar transmits wideband signals, the range resolution is smaller than the size of the target. Then the target is spread in the range dimension and the energy is scattered. In this paper, the characteristic of the echoes for wideband radar is firstly described. Then a new method called segment integrated correlation detection (SICD) is proposed for moving target detection in a wideband radar. The developed method can be realized both in temporal and frequency domain. The keystone transform is also utilized to modify the range migration and a complete process for the range spread target detection is proposed. The measured data indicate that the proposed method can enhance the signal to noise ratio (SNR) 5 dB beyond the conventional method.
