Abstract :
In order to install conveniently, reduce energy consumption, improve the motor efficiency, the segment winding structure can be adopted for long travel permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM), which is also called Segment Winding PMLSM (SW-PMLSM). For SW-PMLSM, the stator armature windings switching failure may cause motor lose step, however, the researches about characteristic under winding switching failure mode are fewer in number. The segment winding structure and winding sectional power supply method are presented in the paper. The thrust-angle characteristic is derived and the low speed PMLSM thrust-angle characteristic is studied. The impact of operating frequency and operation mode on the winding switching failure characteristics is analyzed in detail. A segment winding PMLSM prototype is applied to experiments. The experimental results tally with the analytical value, which verified the correctness of the theoretical analysis.
