Abstract
Complex-exponential basis functions found a wide application in various fields of science and technology [1]. However, the basis of these functions has the disadvantages associated with its complex character. A worthy alternative to complex-exponential basis is Hartley basis, it takes only real values. This article focuses on the basis of spectral analysis in Hartley basis, Hartley transform and Fourier transforms are considered, their dependences are also considered. The similarities and differences of Hartley and Fourier transforms are examined and the possibility of replacing the Fourier transform into the Hartley transform is considered.
