Abstract :
We review recent advances in coherent transponders for pluggable modules. Critical technologies of dense photonic integration techniques, such as planar lightwave circuits, silicon photonics, compound semiconductor photonics integrated circuits, etc, and the associated electro-optical integration into compact modules will be surveyed and discussed.
