Abstract :
This paper takes pedestrian walking speeds as the research object at the signalized intersection crosswalks. Through on-site investigations and screening four signalized intersections are chosen as the data collection points. Combining the field observations with video footage methods the original data is gotten. Pedestrian speeds are counted. Walking speeds of pedestrians are studied in relation to their sex and age. Pedestrian speeds possess a similar Normal distribution and average speed is obtained 1.30m/s. Men´s and women´s average speeds are 1.33m/s and 1.29m/s, respectively. The average speeds of children, adolescents, middle-aged adults, older pedestrians are 1.30m/s, 1.41m/s, 1.26m/s and 1.23m/s in the order. At last, suggestions and lack of this paper are given.
