Abstract :
In the recent years, with increase in the nonlinear power electronic devices in every sphere, it has given rise to two important limitations; harmonics generation and lagging current from the utility. In addition to these, the other power quality problems have appeared in the system that reduces the overall efficiency of the system. In this paper, unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) has been modeled for both active and reactive power compensation using fuzzy control strategy. The behavior of UPQC has been analyzed with sudden switching of loads as well as occurrences of L-G fault. The system has been modeled using MATLAB/SIMULINK 7.5. The control scheme has been devised using fuzzy logic controller in UPQC. The results have also been obtained with PI controller for comparison.
