Abstract :
This paper presents a novel and low cost strategy to enhance the life of output electrolytic capacitor in a battery charger used for domestic applications for example LED emergency lamp. A simulation study using MATLAB/SIMULINK is carried out to ascertain the credibility of the proposed strategy and results are furnished to support the same. Result analysis is done and a comparison is provided between the systems, with and without the proposed strategy and on the whole a justifying conclusion is provided summarizing the application of the proposed strategy even considering various involved factors. The paper is divided into four sections: Introduction, Factors affecting life of capacitor, Proposed solution, Result analysis and Conclusion.
