Abstract
A new 60 GHz hybrid isolator is presented and incorporated to efficiently reduce mutual coupling in a closely-spaced dielectric-resonator (DR) antenna array. The hybrid isolator comprises a new compact uni-planar electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structure and two millimeter-wave (MMW) absorber walls. Simulated results show the effectiveness of the proposed hybrid isolator for reducing the mutual coupling level without disturbing the radiation characteristics. Finally, with the easy-to-fabricate EBG structure, as well as the low cost MMW absorber, the proposed hybrid isolator is suitable to be used in MMW wireless communication systems.
