  • Abstract
This paper focuses on the aircraft carrier deck movement prediction techniques which could be applied to the Autonomous Carrier Landing System (ACLS) design. The techniques introduced here are methods based on non-hydrodynamic, which is also called time series analysis algorithms. The algorithms based on AR model and ARMAX model are described in detail respectively. Both algorithms are adaptive prediction algorithm. The adaptive prediction algorithm does not require a priori ship response information, it can establish a mathematical model of the hull movement in real time and update according to changes in operations or weather conditions. The simulation results indicate that AR model-based prediction algorithm is not ideal, while the ideal prediction algorithm based on ARMAX model needs to be able to measure the wave input. This paper also contains the ACLS simulation result with Deck Motion Compensation. It shows that the DMC reduces the volatility of the glideslope.
