Abstract :
We propose a novel method for evaluating the scattering pattern of the light that generates an optical fiber fuse during the hole formation stage of the optical fiber fuse phenomenon when the fiber fuse is occurring continuously. We found that the directivity of the scattering light is low, and the light could be identified as a dispersion light as regards the safety of laser products. It was estimated that the maximum scattered light power during optical fiber fuse propagation could be dealt with as a class 1 product when the incident light power launched into the optical fiber was several tens of watts.
