  • Abstract
    We propose the 8-state trellis-coded optical modulation scheme with 24M-ary four-dimensional (4D) QAM constellations. Analyzing its performance, we find that significant coding gain can be achieved against the set-partitioned 4D-QAM without sacrificing the spectral efficiency.
