Abstract :
The paper discusses the main achievements in development of effective electron-beam discharge sources for generating the focused electron beams with high brightness. There were considered the distinguish features of described sources from the thermionic guns. Possibilities sources with a plasma emitter and prospects of their use in electron-beam technology are presented.
